Various – Cabaret / Original Sound Track Recording (VG+/VG) – LP, AU 1980

Cabaret / Original Sound Track Recording is an LP by Various from 1980 released on the MCA Records label.

About this album

Cabaret is a sharply made soundtrack that gives the film’s decadent Berlin world its bite and period detail. Ralph Burns’ arrangements blend jazz, pop and show-tune polish, turning songs such as Willkommen, Maybe This Time and Cabaret into character-driven set pieces rather than mere tie-ins. Released in 1972 alongside Bob Fosse’s landmark film, the album carries the show’s cabaret numbers, swing flourishes and darker political undertones with equal poise. Its mix of glamour, irony and impending menace helped define the musical’s enduring appeal and made the soundtrack a lasting reference point for stage-and-screen crossover recordings.
