Across 11 carefully selected tracks, the compilation moves beyond Afrobeat to celebrate the era's vibrant mix of highlife, juju, reggae, boogie and early hip-hop, featuring legendary artists including Victor Uwaifo, Prince Nico Mbarga, Segun Adewale, Lekan Animashaun and Evi-Edna Ogholi. Many of the recordings appear on vinyl for the first time, revealing a decade of innovation that flourished despite political and economic upheaval. Presented as a deluxe gatefold 2LP with extensive liner notes by Francis Gooding and compiled by Duncan Brooker, Nigeria 80 is an essential new chapter in the story of modern Nigerian music.
