Tupelo Honey is one of Van Morrison’s warmest and most enduring albums, blending blues rock and folk rock with a looser, more gracious sound than his earlier work. Released in 1971, it followed the breakthrough success of Moondance and showed Morrison widening his palette without losing his distinctive sense of soul, mysticism and everyday detail. Wild Night became one of his signature songs, while the title track and Moonshine Whiskey helped define the album’s gentle but resilient mood. With its rootsy arrangements and confident writing, the record remains a key statement in Morrison’s early 1970s run.
