Wolf is a key early Tyler, The Creator release, sharpening the Odd Future founder’s mix of abrasive humour, diaristic detail and off-kilter melody. Issued in 2013, it broadened his palette beyond the confrontational edge of Goblin, folding in jazz-tinged production, harder rap passages and more tuneful writing without losing the unpredictability that made him distinctive. Tyler largely steers the writing and production himself, using character sketches and vivid narrative swings to build a self-contained world. With standout cuts such as “Domo23”, “IFHY” and the title track, Wolf helped establish the adventurous, genre-blurring direction that would define his later work.
