Tove Lo – Estrus (Red Vinyl)

Tove Lo’s ESTRUS arrives as her sixth studio album, returning the Swedish singer-songwriter to the frank, emotionally exposed electro-pop that has defined her catalogue since the multi-platinum breakthrough of “Habits (Stay High).” The title points to a state of heat, urgency and instability, which suits a record built around desire, anxiety and the messier edges of intimacy rather than tidy pop catharsis.

Across 13 tracks, Tove Lo balances pulsing, body-moving production with lyrics that stay close to self-doubt, loss and self-liberation. The previously released “I’m Your Girl Right?” sets the tone, while “des fleurs” brings in Stromae for the album’s most notable guest appearance. Other song titles such as “DNH,” “F.A.M.T” and “source of life” suggest how often the record moves between impulse and reflection instead of choosing one mood and sticking with it.

The production reportedly reunites her with longtime collaborator Ludvig Söderberg alongside Elvira Anderfjärd and Luka Kloser, and that continuity matters: the sound leans into sleek synths, driving rhythms and the cool Scandinavian pop tension that has long placed Tove Lo somewhere between club release and private confession. For listeners who like their pop direct, physical and a little emotionally bruised, ESTRUS looks set to continue that thread with real conviction.
