Todd Rundgren – Initiation (VG+/VG+) – LP, US 1975

Initiation is an LP by Todd Rundgren from 1975 released on the Bearsville label.

About this album

Initiation is one of Todd Rundgren’s most ambitious solo albums, pushing his art-rock instincts into sprawling experimental territory. Released in 1975, it finds him folding together hard rock, synthesiser-driven textures and long-form composition, with sides that range from concise songs such as “Real Man” to the expansive title suite. Rundgren wrote, produced and largely played the record himself, reinforcing his reputation as a self-sufficient studio auteur. The album reflects the period when he was moving beyond power-pop expectations towards more daring, conceptual work, and it remains a key title for understanding his restless musical imagination.
