The Womack Sisters’ The Womack Sisters is a 2026 debut that arrives with unusual family history behind it and a clear sense of its own identity. Kucha, Zeimani and BG Womack are the granddaughters of Sam Cooke, nieces of Bobby Womack, and daughters of Womack & Womack, but this record does more than trade on lineage. Released by Daptone, it draws on classic soul and close-harmony tradition while keeping the songs personal, contemporary and grounded in the sisters’ own lives.
That lived-in quality comes from the way they grew up: on the road, moving between cities and countries, singing behind their parents on stages and in studios around the world. The album turns that background into something intimate rather than nostalgic, with each sister stepping forward in her own voice across an intensely soulful set. Producer Gabriel Roth helps frame the group in a style that looks back to substance and warmth in pop-soul without making the music feel like museum work.
There are a few especially telling details in the songs themselves. “Chauffeur” has been described as drawing on the sisters’ experience as rideshare drivers, giving its retro-soul setting a fresh perspective on getting by. “You Went Away Too Long” shows the trio’s feel for heart-on-sleeve balladry, while “My Sisters and Me” lands as the album’s emotional centre, underlining how strongly family, movement and shared history shape the whole record. For a first full-length, it sounds confident, self-aware and properly lived in.
