It's Hard is a sharp, hook-heavy late-period album from The Who, released in 1982 as the band moved into a more polished hard rock and pop rock sound. Their last studio album with drummer Keith Moon's successor Kenney Jones, it features the singles Athena and Eminence Front, the latter becoming one of the group's most enduring 1980s tracks. Produced by Glyn Johns, the record balances clenched riffs, clear melodies and a more reflective edge, capturing a band still writing with force even as the classic rock era gave way to a new decade. It remains an important document of The Who's final stretch as a studio act.
