The Velvet Underground & Nico is an LP by The Velvet Underground, Nico from 1978 released on the Verve Records label.
About this album
The Velvet Underground & Nico is a groundbreaking debut that helped redraw the boundaries of rock music. Released in 1967, the album fused stark songwriting, droning guitars and Nico’s detached vocals with themes of urban alienation, addiction and taboo desire, creating something far stranger and more enduring than a typical pop LP. Recorded with Andy Warhol’s involvement and issued on the Verve label, it was initially overlooked but later became one of the most influential albums in rock history. Songs such as “Heroin”, “All Tomorrow’s Parties” and “Sunday Morning” have since become landmarks of art rock and alternative music.
