    The Tubes’ self-titled debut is a sharp, theatrical introduction to one of rock’s great satirical bands. Released in 1975, it blends pop-rock hooks with glam flash and art-rock ambition, setting out the group’s taste for provocation, character sketches and social commentary. Driven by Fee Waybill’s vivid delivery and the band’s tight, eccentric arrangements, the album balances humour and bite on songs such as White Punks on Dope and What Do You Want from Life. It established the Los Angeles group’s cult reputation and laid the groundwork for their increasingly elaborate stage persona.
