The Tubes – Now (E/VG+) – LP, AU 1977

Now is an LP by The Tubes from 1977 released on the A&M Records label.

About this album

Now is The Tubes at their sharpest, folding satire, theatricality and muscular art-rock into a tighter new wave frame. Released in 1977, the album shows the San Francisco band refining the outrageous stage persona and musical ambition that had already set them apart, balancing parody with genuinely forceful songwriting. Its mix of jagged guitars, punchy rhythms and deadpan humour gives songs like “Smoke (La Vie En Fumér)” and “Golden Boy” real bite without losing the group’s sense of spectacle. As a bridge between late-70s art rock and the emerging new wave, it remains one of their most distinctive records.
