    About this album

Ice Cream Castle is one of The Time’s sharpest Minneapolis Sound albums, mixing funk swagger, sly humour and Prince’s irresistible pop craft. Released in 1984, it was produced by Prince and recorded amid the same creative burst that defined his mid-80s rise, giving the record its taut rhythms, rubbery bass lines and glossy, electronic edge. The album’s biggest song, “Jungle Love”, became a major anthem for the band and helped cement their place in the Purple Rain era, while the title track and “The Bird” show their gift for cheeky, high-energy funk. It stands as a key chapter in the Minneapolis Sound story.
