Our Favourite Shop is an LP by The Style Council from 1985 released on the Polydor label.
About this album
Our Favourite Shop is The Style Council at their most pointed and fully realised, turning pop, soul and jazz influences into a sharply observed portrait of mid-1980s Britain. Released in 1985, the album followed the commercial breakthrough of the group Paul Weller formed after The Jam, and it expanded their reach with songs that mixed elegant hooks, political frustration and social commentary. Walls Come Tumbling Down! became one of the band’s best-known singles, while the album’s blend of mod style, melodic sophistication and explicit critique helped cement The Style Council’s reputation as one of the era’s most distinctive and ambitious British acts.
