Introducing: The Style Council is an LP by The Style Council from 1983 released on the Polydor label.
About this album
Introducing: The Style Council announced Paul Weller’s reinvention with striking confidence, shifting from The Jam’s guitar drive into a smarter blend of pop, soul and club-era New Wave. Issued in 1983, the mini-album featured early Style Council signatures such as Long Hot Summer and Speak Like a Child, setting out the group’s mix of political edge, melodic polish and dancefloor awareness. With Mick Talbot adding keyboard colour and a smoother, more cosmopolitan sound, the record helped establish the duo’s identity before their later full-length albums. It remains an important first statement in Weller’s post-punk evolution.
