Released in 1984, it established Paul Weller and Mick Talbot as a duo unafraid of brass, keyboards, Latin touches and political edge, while keeping the songwriting immediate and melodic. Songs such as My Ever Changing Moods and You’re The Best Thing became signature moments, balancing polish with a sharp sense of personality. Its blend of club-ready groove, social commentary and sophisticated arranging helped make it one of the group’s defining statements and a key British pop album of the 1980s.
