The Stone Roses is a landmark debut that helped define British guitar music at the end of the 1980s. Released in 1989, the album fused jangling indie rock, dance rhythms and a psychedelic edge into a sound that felt both nostalgic and modern. Recorded with producer John Leckie, it yielded enduring favourites such as I Wanna Be Adored, She Bangs the Drums, Waterfall and I Am the Resurrection, and its long-brewing reputation made it one of the most influential British albums of its era. Its classic status grew further through the 1990s, when it became a touchstone for the Madchester and Britpop generations.
