About this album
More Specials is a sharper, stranger and more ambitious second album from The Specials. Released in 1980, it pushed beyond the urgent ska revival of their debut, folding in reggae, pop, lounge and dub textures while keeping the band’s political bite and street-level humour intact. Built around songs such as Do Nothing, Enjoy Yourself and Ghost Town-era unease, the record reflects a group expanding its sound just as tensions were rising around it. Its genre-blurring approach helped widen the reach of British ska and made the album a key part of the band’s brief but hugely influential peak.
