About this album

20 Golden Greats is a concise, high-quality overview of The Shadows’ instrumental rock legacy. Compiled in 1977, it draws on the group’s most familiar singles, including Apache, Wonderful Land, Kon-Tiki and FBI, the melodies and guitar-led hooks that helped define British rock & roll before the beat boom fully took hold. Hank Marvin’s distinctive tone and the band’s clean, echoing arrangements made these recordings hugely influential, shaping generations of guitar groups and instrumentals. As a greatest-hits set, it underlines why The Shadows remain one of the most important and enduring names in UK popular music.
