About this album
Steel Wheels is a sharp late-era comeback from The Rolling Stones, restoring the band’s sense of purpose after years of internal tension. Released in 1989, it reunites Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood around polished hard rock and classic Stones groove, with songs such as Mixed Emotions, Rock and a Hard Place and Almost Hear You Sigh giving the record real momentum. The album helped launch their first major tour in several years and reaffirmed their status as one of rock’s most enduring live and studio acts. Its blend of discipline and swagger made it a key reset for the band’s modern era.
