Some Girls is one of The Rolling Stones’ sharpest late-period albums, a restless 1978 comeback that reasserted their bite after the excesses of the early 1970s. Cut in the wake of punk and disco, it folds those influences into the band’s hard-edged rock & roll without losing their swagger or blues-rooted identity. The album delivered some of their biggest late-era songs, including Miss You, Beast of Burden and Shattered, and became a major commercial success, reaching No. 1 in the US. Its mix of satire, grit and renewed focus helped restore the Stones’ reputation as a band still capable of sounding dangerous and current.
