The Pretty Things is an LP by The Pretty Things from 1965 released on the Philips label.
About this album
The Pretty Things’ self-titled debut is a ferocious early British R&B and garage rock statement, bristling with energy and attitude. Released in 1965, it captured the band before later psychedelic experiments, when their sound was still rooted in hard-driving covers and rough-edged originals. Built around snarling vocals, clipped guitar riffs and a confrontational delivery, the album helped define the nastier end of the UK beat boom and earned the band a reputation as one of the era’s most unruly groups. Its influence can be felt in later garage rock revivals and in the tougher side of British rock that followed.
