Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde is a playful, inventive boom-bap classic that helped define early-1990s alternative hip hop. Released in 1992, the album mixed jazzy samples, off-kilter humour and nimble, conversational rhymes into a sound that stood apart from the era’s harder-edged mainstream. Led by standout singles such as Passing Me By and Ya Mama, it showed The Pharcyde balancing comic looseness with real musical sophistication. The record’s warm production and restless imagination have made it one of the most admired West Coast hip hop albums of its time, influencing later generations of backpack and jazz-leaning rap artists.
