This famous set, recorded in 1958 by the New Symphony Orchestra London under the baton of Alexander Gibson, made its debut at the beginning of the RCA Living Stereo era. It became one of the most sought-after Living Stereo recordings, featuring pieces by Arnold, Liszt, Mussorgsky and others, all with a haunting, haunted theme. To this day, the interpretations are just as characterful and incisive as they were then. Analogue Productions has given this classic a particularly high-quality treatment for its reissue; the original analogue tapes have been remastered by Willem Makkee in Germany, electroplated and pressed on 200g by Quality Record Pressings. As a special icing on the cake, a Stoughton sleeve of heavy cardboard was chosen, with hand-applied printed leaf, recognizable by the typical folding. If this music didn't have a special kind of magic, so many listeners wouldn't turn to it on various occasions and feel somehow refreshed by it again and again.
