    About this album

Wes' Best is a focused hard-bop compilation that showcases Wes Montgomery’s early brilliance within the Montgomery Brothers setting. Issued in 1967, it gathers selections that highlight his melodic fluency, clean single-note lines and relaxed swing, often in the company of his brothers. The set draws on the trio’s straight-ahead jazz roots, where standards and blues-based material such as “Lover Man” and “Barbados” helped frame Montgomery’s distinctive guitar voice. As a compilation rather than a single-session album, it offers a concise portrait of the style that made him one of jazz guitar’s most influential figures.
