About this album
Miami is The Gun Club’s feral, genre-breaking debut, a raw collision of punk velocity and Delta blues obsession. Released in 1982, it introduced Jeffrey Lee Pierce’s haunted songwriting and scratchy vocal intensity, with bandleader Kid Congo Powers helping shape the corrosive guitar attack that set the record apart from both punk orthodoxy and straight blues revivalism. Songs such as Carry Home and Fire of Love made the album a cult touchstone, while its grim, feverish atmosphere helped define the early 1980s roots-punk underground. Its influence has only grown, marking The Gun Club as one of the era’s most distinctive American bands.
