    About this album

    The Soft Parade is one of The Doors’ most ambitious and divisive releases, broadening their blues-rock base with orchestration, brass and a more polished psychedelic palette. Issued in 1969, the album arrived after the band’s run of early classics and showed Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger and John Densmore pushing beyond their original template. The title track’s suite-like scale, alongside songs such as Tell All the People and Touch Me, helped define the record’s more expansive approach. Produced by Paul A. Rothchild, it reflects a band testing new studio ideas at the height of late-1960s rock experimentation.
