Cut The Crap is The Clash’s divisive final studio album, notable for the turmoil around its making and its stark, stripped-back attack. Released in 1985, it emerged after major line-up changes and with Steve Lillywhite at the controls, replacing much of the band’s earlier elegance with a harsher, drum-heavy sound and blunt slogans. Even in this fractured setting, songs such as This Is England and We Are The Clash became part of the group’s story, with the former standing out as one of their last great singles. The album remains a provocative coda to one of punk’s most important bands.
