The Church – Starfish (VG/VG+) – LP, AU 1988

Starfish is an LP by The Church from 1988 released on the Mushroom label.

About this album

Starfish is the album that brought The Church to a wider audience without blunting their distinctively hazy, melodic sound. Released in 1988, it blends jangly guitars, psychedelic atmosphere and a tighter pop sense into one of Australian alternative rock’s most enduring records. Under The Milky Way became the group’s signature song and helped define the album’s reach, but the strength of Starfish lies in the way it balances mood and immediacy across the whole set. The result is a graceful, confident work that stands as a high point in the band’s catalogue and a touchstone of late-1980s jangle pop.
