The Church – Seance (VG+/VG+) – LP, AU 1983

Seance is an LP by The Church from 1983 released on the Parlophone label.

About this album

Seance is the album where The Church pushed beyond the brighter edge of their early sound into something darker, more searching and more distinctive. Released in 1983, it sharpened the band’s jangle-pop roots with a psychedelic and gothic haze, giving songs such as It’s No Reason and Electric Lash a tense, haunted pull. The record helped establish the Australian band as one of the most original groups of the post-punk era, balancing melodic clarity with eerie atmospherics and lyrical unease. It remains an important early statement in The Church’s catalogue and a key reason their reputation endured beyond the indie scene.
