The truth in advertising: the second album from the Brian Jonestown Massacre does indeed - as promised - spring from the Rolling Stones' long unrecognized 1967 masterpiece. "Their Satanic Majesties Request" is completely guilty of adapting the "bad boy" attitude of Mick and Keith and the spirit of the rock'n'roll circus.

It all starts with "All Around You (Intro)", a tongue-in-cheek guide to the trip ahead. The album itself is a freaky kaleidoscope fueled by illicit substances - like the Stones' album of the same name, "Second Request" is drenched in Middle Eastern drones and psychedelic tendencies; each track bubbles with dozens of sound effects like sitars, mellotrones, farfisas, didgeridoos, tablas, congas and glockenspiels.
