Junkyard is an LP by The Birthday Party from 1982 released on the Missing Link label.
About this album
Junkyard is one of The Birthday Party’s most uncompromising statements, turning post-punk into something raw, volatile and defiantly uncommercial. Released in 1982, the album followed the band’s move from Australia to the UK and captured their corrosive blend of punk energy, art-rock dissonance and gothic menace at full force. With Nick Cave’s savage vocals cutting through trace elements of blues, swing and noise, it became a key document of early alternative rock’s darker edge. Its influence has only grown over time, helping define the template for later generations of bleak, confrontational underground music.
