The Beach Boys – Love You (VG+/E) – LP, US 1977

Love You is an LP by The Beach Boys from 1977 released on the Brother Records, Reprise Records label.

About this album

Love You is one of The Beach Boys’ most daring late-era albums, a strange, funny and deeply personal Brian Wilson-led statement. Released in 1977, it arrived after the group’s commercial peak but has since been reassessed as a cult favourite for its unguarded songwriting, homemade synth textures and offbeat humour. Wilson wrote most of the material and its eccentric spirit links comic singles like Johnny Carson with fragile, intimate pieces such as The Night Was So Young and I Wanna Pick You Up. Though initially overlooked, the album is now widely regarded as a singular late-period Beach Boys work, revealing Wilson’s melodic gift in an unusually raw form.
