Rock Of Ages: The Band In Concert is an LP by The Band from 1972 released on the Capitol Records label.
About this album
Rock of Ages captures The Band in commanding live form, sharpening their roots-rock into a looser, tougher and often more joyous performance style. Recorded during their 1971 New Year’s Run at New York’s Academy of Music and produced by the band with Glyn Johns, the album was later enhanced by brass arrangements from Allen Toussaint, giving the set extra lift without blunting its grit. Familiar songs such as The Weight, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down and The Shape I’m In sound renewed by the concert setting, while the album stands as one of the great live statements of early-1970s rock and a fitting summary of the group’s influence.
