Bouncing Off The Satellites is the B-52's most unsettled and emotionally charged album, tempering their surreal humour with grief and resilience. Released in 1986, it followed the breakthrough success of Whammy! and arrived during a difficult period for the band after the death of guitarist Ricky Wilson. Recorded with producer Richard Gottehrer, the album keeps their bright pop instincts intact while sounding more direct and vulnerable, especially on songs such as Summer Of Love and She Brakes For Rainbows. Though less commercially celebrated than their biggest hits, it remains an important document of the band’s evolution and a striking chapter in their catalogue.
