About this album

Taste’s On The Boards is a powerful blues rock album that broadened the Irish trio’s sound beyond straight hard rock. Released in 1970, it followed the group’s acclaimed debut era and showed Rory Gallagher, Richard McCracken and John Wilson working with more dynamic arrangements, sharper contrasts and a looser, more exploratory feel. The record balances muscular riffs with longer, more fluid passages, making room for Gallagher’s distinctive guitar voice and the band’s tight rhythm section. Widely regarded as one of Taste’s key albums, it helped secure their reputation as a formidable live-in-the-studio rock unit at the close of the 1960s.
