Tame Impala – Currents (VG+/E) – 2xLP, AU 2021

Currents is an LP by Tame Impala from 2021 released on the Caroline International, Fiction Records, Universal Music label.

About this album

Currents is the album where Tame Impala moved decisively from psych-rock revivalism into glossy, emotionally detailed pop. Written, produced and largely performed by Kevin Parker, the 2015 release folds synth-pop, dream pop and electronic textures into songs that are sharper and more immediate without losing the project’s psychedelic core. The result was a breakthrough record that widened Tame Impala’s audience and helped define a new, genre-blurring strand of alternative pop. Key tracks such as Let It Happen, The Less I Know the Better and Eventually show Parker’s gift for turning breakup, change and self-doubt into widescreen, hook-driven songwriting.
