A vital live document, The Name of This Band Is Talking Heads captures the group in rapid transformation, tracing their leap from wiry early punk into the rhythm-driven art-rock language that made them singular. Issued in 1982, the double album assembles performances from their 1977-1981 touring years, including material from Talking Heads: 77, More Songs About Buildings and Food, Fear of Music and Remain in Light. The set shows how songs such as Psycho Killer, I Zimbra and Life During Wartime evolved on stage, with the band expanding from tight new wave minimalism into a far more propulsive, layered live force. It remains one of their most revealing releases.
