Supertramp – Supertramp (VG+/VG) – LP, AU 1988

Supertramp is an LP by Supertramp from 1988 released on the A&M Records label.

About this album

Supertramp’s debut is a curious, ambitious first statement, mixing folk-rock intimacy with the lengthier, more searching structures that would later define the band. Released in 1970, the album introduced the songwriting partnership of Rick Davies and Roger Hodgson in embryonic form, balancing acoustic passages, shifting tempos and reflective lyrics with a distinctly English sense of melancholy. Songs such as Surely and It’s a Long Road show the group already reaching beyond standard hard-rock formulas, even before their commercial breakthrough. Though not a hit on release, Supertramp helped establish the melodic and progressive identity that made the band one of the most successful British acts of the 1970s.
