Cornerstone is an LP by Styx from 1979 released on the A&M Records label.
About this album
Cornerstone is the Styx album that turned the band’s prog-rock ambition into their biggest commercial breakthrough. Released in 1979, it sharpened their blend of melodic hard rock, harmony vocals and theatrical writing into a more radio-friendly sound, most famously on the ballad “Babe”, which became a major international hit. The album also includes the playful, acoustic-leaning “Boat On The River” and the driving “Borrowed Time”, showing the group balancing accessibility with their earlier progressive instincts. Produced by Styx themselves, Cornerstone became one of their most successful and widely recognised records, cementing their late-1970s crossover appeal.
