  • Flex-Able is an LP by Steve Vai from 1984 released on the Food For Thought, Urantia Records label.

    About this album

Flex-Able is a wildly inventive debut that introduced Steve Vai as more than a virtuoso guitarist: he was already a mischievous composer with a taste for odd time signatures, humour and studio experimentation. Issued in 1984, the album blends prog rock, fusion, abstract electronics and pop-rock hooks into a strikingly individual statement. Before Vai became widely known through Frank Zappa’s band, this release established the technical precision and eccentric imagination that would define his career. The result is an off-kilter but highly musical album that still stands out for its ambition, personality and fearlessness.
