The Joker is an LP by Steve Miller Band from 1982 released on the Axis label.

About this album

The Joker is Steve Miller Band’s breakthrough into laid-back, hook-heavy blues rock with broad pop appeal. Released in 1973, the album softened the group’s earlier psychedelic edges in favour of clean melodies, easygoing grooves and Miller’s cool, conversational vocal style. The title track became the band’s defining hit and a staple of classic rock radio, helping turn the record into a commercial high point and a gateway for new listeners. Alongside its best-known song, the album shows how Miller could make blues-based rock feel effortless, memorable and distinctly American.
