Steely Dan – Can't Buy A Thrill (VG+/VG) – LP, US 1974

Can't Buy A Thrill is an LP by Steely Dan from 1974 released on the ABC Records label.

About this album

Can't Buy a Thrill is a striking debut that introduced Steely Dan’s cool precision, sharp songwriting and understated studio sophistication. Released in 1972, it blends pop-rock immediacy with jazz-rock detail, setting out the dry wit, harmonic sophistication and meticulous arrangements that would become central to the band’s identity. Tracks such as Do It Again, Reelin’ In the Years and Dirty Work gave the group its early mainstream breakthrough while hinting at the more controlled, elusive style they would refine later in the decade. The album remains widely regarded as one of the most distinctive first statements in American rock of the early 1970s.
