About this album

Starcastle’s self-titled debut is a polished piece of American prog-rock, built on soaring harmonies, intricate arrangements and clear ambition. Released in 1976, it introduced the Illinois band as one of the most overtly Yes-influenced acts of the era, matching lavish vocal layers with bright, fast-moving instrumental work. The album’s reputation rests on its blend of melody and musicianship, with standout cuts such as Lady Of The Lake and Elliptical Seasons showing how closely the group balanced complexity with strong hooks. For listeners drawn to symphonic rock with a distinctly mid-70s sheen, Starcastle remains a key debut.
