Stan Getz – Marrakesh Express (VG+/VG+) – LP, AU 1970

Marrakesh Express is an LP by Stan Getz from 1970 released on the MGM Records label.

About this album

Marrakesh Express finds Stan Getz applying his cool, lyrical tenor to a set of contemporary pop and screen favourites. Issued in 1970, the album reflects the period when jazz artists were reworking recent hit songs and film themes for a broader audience, without losing musical sophistication. Getz’s phrasing keeps the material elegant and restrained, giving familiar tunes a лёгкая, intimate character rather than forcing them into hard bop territory. Positioned between jazz, pop and light listening, the record is a reminder of how fluently Getz could translate popular repertoire into something refined and distinctly his own.
