Spinal Tap – From The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack "This Is Spinal Tap" (G+/VG) – LP, NZ 1984

From The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack "This Is Spinal Tap" is an LP by Spinal Tap from 1984 released on the Polydor label.

About this album

Spinal Tap is a brilliantly sustained parody of heavy metal and arena rock, and the soundtrack to This Is Spinal Tap helped make the film a cult classic. Released in 1984, it mixes fake documentary comedy with fully realised rock pastiche, sending up everything from pompous power ballads to ridiculous stagecraft. Songs such as “Big Bottom”, “Stonehenge” and “Gimme Some Money” became enduring fan favourites because they are funny and musically sharp at the same time. As a soundtrack, it captures the film’s joke while standing alone as a deftly written comic rock album.
