Social Distortion was founded in Orange County, California, by frontman Mike Ness and guitarist Dennis Danell and achieved legendary status over the course of their 40-year career. Ness & Co. were influenced by punk bands like the Ramones, Sex Pistols and The Clash, as well as early country acts like Hank Williams and classic blues musicians like Muddy Waters.
Social Distortion released their 1983 debut, "Mommy's Little Monster", on their own label 13th Floor Records. An album full of raw vocals, powerful guitar riffs and hooks, peppered with the typical snotty attitude, which gave Social Distortion a rapidly growing following and subsequently inspired punk rock up-and-comers such as Rancid and many other well-known acts today. The band's hits include "The Creeps (I Just Wanna Give You)" and "Another State of Mind".
In celebration of the band's 40th anniversary this fall, Spinefarm is re-releasing three titles from the Social Distortion indie catalog on vinyl, namely the band's 1983 debut album Mommy's Little Monster, their 2004 studio album Sex, Love and Rock'n'Roll and the early singles and B-sides collection Mainliner (Wreckage From The Past).
