Sky 2 is an LP by Sky from 1980 released on the Ariola, RCA label.
About this album
Sky 2 is a polished and ambitious prog-rock statement that broadened Sky’s appeal beyond virtuoso circles. The 1980 album builds on the British/Australian group’s blend of classical repertoire, jazz finesse and rock drive, with John Williams at the centre of a line-up that prized technical control as much as melody. Its best-known moment, the single Toccata, turned Bach’s familiar source material into a concise crossover showcase and gave the band a commercial breakthrough. Elsewhere, the album ranges from nimble acoustic figures to driving ensemble pieces, underlining why Sky became one of the era’s most distinctive instrumental acts.
