About this album
Shakin' Stevens’ Greatest Hits Volume 1 is a sharp, hit-packed snapshot of the Welsh singer’s early-’80s chart dominance. Issued in 1984, the compilation brings together the rock ’n’ roll revival sound that made Stevens one of Britain’s most successful pop stars, balancing Elvis-inspired swagger with polished, radio-ready hooks. Songs such as This Ole House, Green Door, Oh Julie and A Love Worth Waiting For show how he turned classic rock and roll into mainstream UK pop, with a run of singles that kept him near the top of the charts throughout the period. It remains a concise summary of his commercial peak and enduring appeal.
