Shadowfax – Shadowfax (VG+/VG) – LP, AU 1982

Shadowfax is an LP by Shadowfax from 1982 released on the Windham Hill Records label.

About this album

Shadowfax is a distinctive debut that helped define the early new-age crossover sound by blending jazz fusion, folk and electronic textures with unusual fluency. Released in 1982, the album introduced the Los Angeles group’s spacious, instrumental approach, where acoustic and electric colours sit alongside global influences and improvisatory jazz interplay. Pieces such as “Angel’s Flight” and “Ariki (Hummingbird Spirit)” show how the band could move from lyrical calm to rhythmic momentum without losing its sense of detail. With its mix of crafted composition and open-ended atmosphere, Shadowfax became an important marker for 1980s genre-crossing instrumental music.
