Severed Heads – Stretcher (E/E) – LP, AU 1985

Stretcher is an LP by Severed Heads from 1985 released on the Volition label.

About this album

Stretcher is a strong introduction to Severed Heads’ restless electronic vision, balancing jagged synth-pop with playful, abrasive experimentation. Issued in 1985, the compilation brings together key material from the Australian group’s early period, when Tom Ellard and collaborators were pushing tape manipulation, danceable electronics and surreal pop ideas into unusual new shapes. Songs such as Dead Eyes Opened and Petrol helped define their cult reputation, pairing memorable hooks with a sly, off-kilter sense of humour. Heard as a snapshot of the band’s early development, it captures why Severed Heads became one of the most distinctive names in underground electronic music.
